The issue with cropping a 4:3 frame to fit my 16:10 display (BioShock, and others) is that the trade-off is completely negated. There's a definite trade-off there, and that's a trade-off I made quite willingly and happily. In reality, I consider 1680x1050 equivalent to a 1600x1200 display, the latter having a greater resolution, but the former having a wider aspect ratio. I personally find widescreen displays better because of the aspect ratio, not the pixel resolution. Perhaps you should stop making so many assumptions. When i watch 4:3 stuff (theres still lot of anime thats 4:3) it ends up piller boxedĬlick to expand.Not at all. Just to let you know anamorphic works both ways

HDTV is natively widescreen when recorded Now in the case of Super35 4:3 does have more but only with Super35 This is a good thing sure its smaller on like sized SDTV but if you want it bigger get a HDTV this is why i watch TV on my PC and not the crappy SD TV we have Since the TV show or film was recorded in 16:9 your seeing the full frame were if it were made to fit you would lose the sides in 4:3 i watch letter box all the time on TV i think most shows on cable are letter box now since there shot in HD

This holds the aspect correct regardless of the monitor its viewed on Its not squashed at all its letter boxed the full image is there in aspect and it has the same detail in all its just theres less letter boxing the closer you get to 16:9 So if you think Epic knows best then may be they think its best play with out AA RIGHT becouse they know better then the end user No one like that the UE3 doesnt work with AA with out hacks Same thing with AA and same thing with saves Why cant you just accept that maybe its better to let the use pick if they want to? If you want to play one way thats fine but let the user set the FOV be it they have a 5:4, 4:3, 16:10, or 16:9 screen that way every ones happy Thats a lot of devs that think other wise its the same issue with Super35 every one hates and theres one or 2 that use itīut unlike a movie its not hard to add a slider to let you user set the FOV for them self Its a bad port just like Bioshock and UT3 and R6:V and every other UE3 gameĬryengine2, NFS S, Source, WIC, ALL of ID's engines, UE1 and 2 are all hor+ natively (also note that the UE1 and 2 have a user set-able FOV why doesnt UE3?) Epic did it to get there shitty engine to run on consoles with limited power namely the PS3
